Latest Educational Politics News

Members,

As you know, we have an extremely important election coming up on November 8th.  Our next president will not only be appointing a Supreme Court judge, but will undoubtedly be rolling out a new educational plan.  Our U.S. representatives will no doubt be passing federal laws that affect our profession.  Our state legislators will not only be dealing with new federal mandates from above but will also be wrestling with huge educational issues within our state.  Furthermore, two of our state representatives from West Hartford hold key contested positions at the state legislature.  Senator Beth Bye is chairperson of the appropriations committee, co-chair of the children’s committee, and member of the education committee.  Andy Fleischmann is co-chair of the education committee.  The WHEA Political Action Committee has created a survey that we have sent to all candidates appearing on the WeHa ballot.  Four candidates have responded to the survey and we are posting them here on the WHEA website.

Like last year, WHEA is hosting a political mixer at the Legion Hall on Friday, Oct. 21st at 7 p.m.  All candidates have been invited to attend.  All WHEA members are strongly encouraged to attend.  There will be light snacks and a beverage provided.  We truly hope to see you there.  Feedback from last year’s mixer was fantastic.

We will continue to post responses to our questionnaire as they are received.

Thank you,

WHEA Political Action Committee
